Who: 10 local students and 22 European students.
We are looking for 10 local participants from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University. Only a basic knowledge of chemistry is required. The course starts on Wednesday, July 4 and ends on Friday, July 13. During this 10-day event, lodging and food are provided by BEST Ghent. Also, social activities are planned during the evening. Next to the lectures, also company visits are planned, In the lab sessions, you will practice the theory learned about biodiesel and bioethanol.

The academic part of this course will be lead by Prof. dr.ir. Joris Thybaut. Different lecturers will teach each part of the academic sessions and labs. The course focusses on biodiesel and bioethanol and the catalythic processes involved in extracting these compounds, starting from a basic knowledge of chemistry.
You will be hosted in the nice buildings of the scouts of Sint-Denijs-Westrem. Meals will be in the student canteen or provided by us. Also coffee breaks during the lectures and snacks during the day will be provided. We will explore Ghent by bike, provided by student-en-mobiliteit. Note that there will only be internet at the university, not in Sint-Denijs-Westrem and no laptops are needed for the lectures, so leave them at home.
On Friday evening, we will leave for a surprise weekend trip. Please bring clothes that may get dirty and good shoes. To accomodate for the great belgian weather, bring a raincoat and sunscreen.
