To support the strong growth of OMP, the Solver Team is looking for an Operations Research Consultant. Solvers ensure that the solutions proposed by the planning modules are really "optimum". The solvers are designed to meet several objectives at the same time, taking into account a large set of constraints. The underlying techniques are based on mathematical programming combined with a variety of (meta)heuristics

Your Challenge
You will be part of the OMP’s Solver Team. The team consists of Operations Research consultants and software developers focusing on delivering world class optimization solutions for various supply chain planning problems (e.g. capacity planning, campaign planning, scheduling & sequencing).
Your main task will be to act as an expert in customer projects on optimization and operations research related topics. You will analyze the customer’s solver needs. You will design a solver solution and support the consultants in the modeling and implementation. You will also be involved in building prototypes for specific customer problems, as well as developing and maintaining functionality to cover generic requirements. You will visit our customers about 10% of the time. At all times, you will work in close collaboration with your colleagues working on the same projects, Operations Research consultants, and developers.

Required special knowledge

You have a master’s degree in a mathematical, scientific or engineering field. Having a PhD in one of these fields or business experience is a definite advantage.

You need to have a strong affinity for IT; programming skills are required (any language). You have a passion for operations research. You have knowledge of operations research techniques, more specifically: algorithms, linear and mixed integer programming techniques and/or metaheuristics. As you will work on complex mathematical software, you need to be very analytical, creative, and have strong mathematical ability. You are a born problem solver and you love complex puzzles! You are fun to work with and a reliable team player.

You are fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus (Dutch, French, German or Spanish).
