The incentive to deploy the system is driven by its ability (i) to secure additional advertisement revenues, (ii) to differentiate itself from the competition and (iii) to improve customer loyalty. Regardless of the revenue model, personalized targeted advertisement is known to be a very effective strategy and advertisers are willing to pay a significant price for this type of advertisement (ranging from 0.3€ to 1€ per ad shown). Furthermore, if the advertisement can be shown at the moment the customer will make a buying decision (eg. when he passes by the product), the revenue per advertisement can even exceed these numbers. While the personal shopping assistant mainly intends to facilitate and enrich the shopping or waiting experience, the investment is paid back between 6 to 12 months based on the advertisement revenues alone.
