Joining the Wireline Networks team will open exciting career opportunities at a time when a global leader is changing the way the world communicates. The team is the leading R&D site for Alcatel-Lucent’s IP based DSLAMs success story (DSLAMs are located in central offices and remote boxes of telecom operators). As the largest telecom R&D centre in Belgium, we were the first to put ADSL on the market. Today Alcatel-Lucent is the market leader in VDSL and our R&D teams are continuously looking for even more bandwidth for all our users, in order to make sure everybody in the world can enjoy triple play (voice, TV and high speed internet) over his telephone cable. Now we are ready to interconnect everyone throughout the world optically with Fiber-to-the-user (FTTU). Understanding our customers needs, continuously exploring innovative ideas and turn them into successful products makes the difference in our highly competitive telecom industry. You will help developing the hardware and software solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team of experts using state-of-the-art technology, design tools and processes. While gaining experience, you can evolve either to a technical expert or to a project team lead. Goal As a software test engineer you will contribute to test and development of automated test scripts which are essential in delivering high quality software. You will develop an in-depth understanding of new telecommunications protocols and/or hardware platforms, and the way customers are deploying them. As part of a multi-disciplinary team of senior experts you will be key in bringing our product evolutions to the market faster and at higher quality than the competition, and in this you will be supported by state of the art development and test technologies, tools and processes. Your main responsibilities will include: •Defining intelligent tests for complex systems, detecting non-quality upfront in the development process •Developing automated test scripts that ensure sustained, top level quality of subsequent software releases •Long term quality of the test scripts you delivered •Troubleshoot issues in a complex embedded system Your main challenges will be: •the willingness to accept and overcome challenges •to think “out-of-the-box” •to apply creative solutions to complex technical problems •the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced working environment •to be able to work both independently and as part of a team Contact: Sandrine Halleux (Talent acquisition and development) Email: Jobs.recruitment@alcatel-lucent.com |

| Nodige voorkennis | Technical background and experience
You hold (or will obtain this year) a Master’s degree in (applied) engineering sciences: Electrical engineering or Telecom or Computer science engineering (option embedded software). You have a broad interest in the telecom sector. Knowledge of real-time operating systems, IP protocols and UML is an asset.
