Joining the Wireline Networks team will open exciting career opportunities at a time when a global leader is changing the way the world communicates. The team is the leading R&D site for Alcatel-Lucent’s IP based DSLAMs success story (DSLAMs are located in central offices and remote boxes of telecom operators). As the largest telecom R&D centre in Belgium, we were the first to put ADSL on the market. Today Alcatel-Lucent is the market leader in VDSL and our R&D teams are continuously looking for even more bandwidth for all our users, in order to make sure everybody in the world can enjoy triple play (voice, TV and high speed internet) over his telephone cable. Now we are ready to interconnect everyone throughout the world optically with Fiber-to-the-user (FTTU). Understanding our customers needs, continuously exploring innovative ideas and turn them into successful products makes the difference in our highly competitive telecom industry. You will be the gate keeper for the hardware and software solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team of experts using state-of-the-art technology, design and test tools and processes. While gaining experience, you can evolve either to a technical expert or to a customer project team lead. Goal The Fixed Access R&D-team is looking for dynamic, motivated and customer-oriented people with strong technical skills to further strengthen our Customer Focus Test (CFT) team and Technical Escalation Centre (TEC). The CFT team is responsible for performing validation activities of the product releases in networks that are build specifically to resemble as much as possible the real environment of our customers, in order to increase the quality. The CFT team works on the whole product portfolio (including DSL, Fibre, Voice and the remotes) The TEC team is responsible for investigating, simulating and reproducing customer/field problems. The TEC team excels in the definition of workarounds and validation of customer issue fixes. Your main responsibilities will include: •Definition of test-strategy and test-list based on input obtained from the local support teams and the customers. •Set-up of the needed end-to-end network. •Execution of the tests and interfacing with the development teams for helping the resolution of found issues. •Documentation of the results of the test and sharing of these results with the local teams and customers. •Work in small customer teams focused on a particular (set of) customers. | Nodige voorkennis | Technical background and experience
You hold (or will obtain this year) a Master’s degree in (applied) engineering sciences: Electrical engineering or Telecom or Computer science engineering (option embedded software). You have a broad interest in the telecom sector. Knowledge of real-time operating systems, IP protocols and UML is an asset.
