Title: Map visualisation in self-service BI tools

Project Description: Listing and comparing mapping capabilities in three established SSBI tools.

Concept :
One of the most used visualisation types is a map. Aside from being a good looking visual that immediately engage audiences, data maps provide critical context for your metrics. Combining geospatial information with other data creates a greater scope of understanding.

There is a lot of room for creativity when making map visualisations, because there are numerous ways to convey information with this kind of visualization. Choosing the right design is a critical and challenging decision. Your goal is to list up the most prevailing mapping visualisations and identify the appropriate scenarios to use them. To complete the exercise, you will be provided with literature covering the (mapping) data visualisation topic.
The last two decades there is a new approach regarding business intelligence: the rise of the so called ‘Self Service Business Intelligence Tools’ (SSBI). These tools enable the less tech-savvy user to perform data visualisation with less reliance on the IT department. Many data visualisation tools are giving their best shot to enable their users to design sophisticated maps.
Your objective is to build all the mapping visualisations you identified in the leading SSBI tools (PowerBi, Tableau, Qliksense).
You will be guided in the installation and basic understanding of these tools. Along with training material and internal guidance, you will be able to test the SSBI tools on their mapping capabilities.
Your deliverables are a paper document and a presentation (in Dutch or English).
