Automatic Sonar Analysis STAGE

Here you'll find the details about the job "Automatic Sonar Analysis STAGE" in the company EXAIL ROBOTICS.

Details
Name Automatic Sonar Analysis STAGE
Company EXAIL ROBOTICS
Description

In the sonar framework, developed here in Mouscron, we integrate software components from the antenna electronics side up to the generation of human interpretable images of the seafloor. The framework uses a binary data format (BML) to pipe data from one end to another. To analyse the data which flows into the processing framework, we have created tooling, the Automatic Sonar Analysis tool and the VizTool.
The Automatic Sonar Analysis (ASA) tool is a prototype program which is planned to supersede the VizTool. We’re planning to consolidate the feature sets from both tools, and advance work on the new ASA. In this internship, you will be working with the software team to make this a reality. This includes software design (determining features and architecture and discussing with the team), reworking the ASA tool (refactors and extensions) and software testing (comparing the ASA’s performance and ease of use against the VizTool).
Technically, the ASA tool is split into a server application which communicates with the sonar framework (written in C++) and a front-end built in web-technology (AngularJS) which displays the state of the data flows to the user. We leave the evolution of this application open to the ideas and capabilities of the intern, e.g. increased focus on C++ vs. work on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) or vice versa.
