Job Description

If interested please include a motivation letter with your CV file as one document, in order to speed up the selection process and increase your opportunity to be considered for the role.

IBM-Plant Location International (PLI) is a business unit of the consulting division of IBM Corporation, based in Brussels, Belgium. IBM-PLI is specialized in location strategies and economic development consulting. We are permanently working with a team of interns that assist the IBM-PLI team with research and analysis of foreign investment data.

Typical activities are:

- Research multiple data sources to gather/ validate information on announced foreign investment projects around the world, and feed this information into our proprietary Global Location Trends database. This database forms the basis for analysis of foreign investment trends. For an example, see our latest Global Location Trends report at www.ibm.biz/gltr2017

- Perform comparative location analysis for a particular industry and geography, prepare a report on the basis of this analysis, and present outcomes to the full team. For an initial view on some of our evaluation techniques the following report may be helpful

- On an ad hoc basis, interns may be requested to support with other research tasks related to IBM-PLI's client consulting work, but this is not a primary task for the interns.

Note that the work that IBM-PLI performs is frequently confidential in nature. Therefore, the opportunities for IBM-PLI interns to produce publicly available reports or documents on the basis of research at IBM-PLI are extremely limited (for example: no thesis).

The internships are offered for a maximum period of 60 working days per academic year. Working location will be IBM Belgium's offices in Brussels, where the intern will join the IBM-PLI team, and a team of other international interns.

Candidates should meet the following key requirements:

- Education or strong demonstrated interest in international business / foreign investment
- Fluent English language skills: reading, speaking and writing
- Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Understanding of international business concepts (e.g. FDI), and good geographical knowledge

Additionally, the candidates should be fluent in minimal one more major global language (other than English) to support our global research on foreign investment data. Especially languages such as Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic are required permanently. Other languages are of interest as well.

Due to Belgian legislation we can only accept students that have European citizenship OR are currently enrolled in an EU university with a mandatory internship. The student must be registered at a high-school or a university with the purpose of obtaining a master's or Bachelor's degree. Students who have already graduated are no more eligible, even if supported by the school, unless they have a new school registration in place to obtain an additional degree.

If you are interested in applying for this internship, please submit both of the following two documents as one file:

- Motivation letter: clearly describe your expectations of the content of this internship and your objectives (this is an important selection criteria!), and during which period you expect to be available
- Your detailed CV
