Your team and your responsibilities

Vehicle Performance Engineering division
Our mission is to ensure that Toyota vehicles deliver a unique mobility experience for European customers. By leveraging ever-better methods, data-driven insights, and human-centric approaches, we establish competitive targets and optimize performance.

ADAS – UX team
Our mission is to enhance safe mobility in EU, enabling our customers to maximise the benefit and enjoy utilisation of our safety & advanced driving support systems. Our scope includes evaluating and enhancing ADAS systems for European drivers, conducting user research, and developing innovative concepts.

Your project
This internship involves benchmarking an in-vehicle HMI function (3-lane view) to understand customer acceptance, usability & safety benefit. The main tasks include:

• Research state-of-the-art 3-lane view solutions based on online research, customer reviews, and/or vehicle benchmarking to understand main automotive trend;
• Breakdown 3-lane view HMI trend in terms of display location, usability, and UX for different vehicle segments and brands;
• Identify most beneficial driving scenarios where customer satisfaction is enhanced and / or safety benefit is improved;
• Identify edge cases where commercial 3-lane view functions have a sub-optimal performance (e.g. leading to annoyance or distraction);
• Propose countermeasures to expand 3-lane view function usability & UX acceptance;
• Depending on time, prototype prioritized HMI design improvements in Figma/protopie.


Your profile

• You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
• You are a Master student in Engineering, Industrial design, or relevant field
• You have a strong interest in user research and automotive design
• You have a strong innovation mindset and willingness to learn
• Knowledge of Figma or protopie are considered an asset

Starting date: Flexible, between June and October.

Duration: Twelve (12) weeks.

Confidentiality
Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.

The internship must be an integral part of the candidate's academic program, ensuring that they receive academic credits and that it contributes towards the completion of their diploma.
