Software Engineer

To improve and develop our internal cloud-based data platform, Foodpairing seeks a Software Engineer with a keen interest in data.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a strategic role in the innovation, research, and development of Foodpairing’s technology for Consumer Flavor Intelligence (CFI). This role will be based in our Ghent office and you will work in a multidisciplinary team with data scientists, chefs, food scientists, and data engineers using some of the newest machine learning technologies to generate successful new food products

Responsibilities

You write well-designed, readable and testable code
You participate in code reviews & mentor junior team members
You document your code and provide input to technical documents (specifications, operating guides)
You troubleshoot & debug services and data processing components
You support continuous improvement by researching & investigating new technologies

Who are you?

You have a Masters degree (Engineering, Physics, Informatics, Computer Sciences,...) with 4+ years of experience in an industry setting
You have experience delivering multiple software engineering projects
(implementation, testing & deployment)
You can translate business requirements into technical specifications
The following stack fits you like a glove: Python & SQL/document databases (Mongo, Firestore..)
Experience with a variety of API standards (REST, GRPC)
You have experience with algorithm development
You have worked with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure or similar)
You are willing to learn more about data engineering (we provide training!)
