Project Overview for our plant in Obourg (Mons )

GO4ZERO is our ambitious initiative aimed at reducing our environmental footprint in clinker production through innovative and sustainable practices. The Clinker Line project in Obourg involves a significant upgrade, transitioning from a "wet process" using chalk to a more efficient "dry process" using limestone. This includes constructing new clinker production lines and revamping existing infrastructure to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions. The Quarry project transitions Obourg’s process from wet chalk to dry limestone extracted near the Escaut River. The limestone, processed in Vaulx (Tournai), will be transported by train to Obourg.

Role Description:

We are seeking a Civil Works & Structure Engineer - Clinker Line to join our GO4ZERO project team on a consulting or freelance basis for a 12 to 24-month mission. Reporting directly to the Project Director, this role is crucial for both the design and implementation phases of the Clinker and Limestone Lines project. You will be based primarily in Obourg, with travel to Vaulx as needed. The successful candidate will oversee the civil and structural aspects of both sites, ensuring seamless collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

Civil Works & Structure Engineer - Clinker Line in overseeing the civil engineering and structural aspects of the Clinker and Limestone Lines projects, from the initial design phase through to construction, ensuring all structures are up to project specifications, as well as local and international regulations.
This role includes direct involvement in design, implementation, and coordination with multiple teams, including the internal engineering department in Switzerland and the subcontractor responsible for plan development
Lead the bidding phase to help select appropriate contractors and oversee the management of construction documents (such as calculation notes and drawings) and material compliance.
Manage the construction of critical infrastructure, including new production lines and the upgrading of existing facilities, ensuring they meet operational and environmental standards.
Coordinate with project stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and local authorities, to ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and within budget

In industries:
  • Construction
Required special knowledge

Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in civil/structural engineering and construction management, particularly in large-scale industrial projects involving significant upgrades and new construction.
Strong expertise in managing the construction of industrial facilities and associated infrastructure, knowledge of cement industry is an asset.
Experience with managing stakeholders and team
Fluent in French and English, with excellent communication and coordination skills.
You are a good communicator, you have excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to work on-site in Obourg for the duration of the project.
Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of other design software is an asset.
