PhD Symposium
For the 12th time, a PhD symposium is organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University. This edition will be held on Wednesday, 7 December 2011, in the Aula.
The intention of this PhD symposium is to give a better visibility to the research activities performed at the faculty. It allows different research groups, and in particular their PhD students, to learn more about each others research work, which can stimulate possible collaboration between these groups. It is also an opportunity for students (and particularly for last year students) to become more familiar with the scientific research activities at the faculty. Finally, it is also meant for people external to the university: scientific press, members of the industry, education etc. They will obtain a global overview of the research performed at our faculty.
Every PhD student can present his or her research work by means of a poster presentation. The presentation should not be too technical, as it should also be comprehensible to non-specialists.
The symposium covers a wide range of topics, including architecture, industrial management, biomedical engineering, civil and structural engineering, chemical engineering, communication technology, electrical engineering, electronics, photonics, information technology, material sciences, software, applied physics, mathematics, mechanics.
The PhD symposium is fully supported - both morally and financially - by the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and more specifically by its Commission for Scientific Research, headed by Prof. Luc Dupré. The organizers express their sincere gratitude for this.
